Reviews for Skyfall Cottage Oceanside Retreat

 We love to host guests, and our guests love Skyfall Cottage. In the fall of 2024, we made the decision to remove our accommodation from AirBnb because of the high booking fees that were charged to guests and because most people can find us through google search or SkyfallCottage.com  We have only had five-star reviews over the past seven years and here is what some of our AirBnb guests have said about the Oceanside Retreat.

 Sian Burgess, July 2024, 5 star review.  Janine and Tom’s place is the nicest Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at.  It is spacious, modern, clean with many thoughtful touches.  Their place is directly on the ocean with spectacular views, and a balcony with comfortable chairs for sitting outside. There is also a barbecue and so many more amenities.  They greeted us with not only salmon but freshly baked bread and an offer of vegetables from the garden.  Everything you need is right in the spacious apartment.  It was a delight.  I want to thank Janine for all the suggestions for local events and food.  She was thoughtful, helpful and kind, as was Tom.  I wish we were still there.  Thank you.

Pat Scheer, June 2024, 5 star review.   We had a wonderful stay!  Janine and Tom are amazing hosts and made our stay memorable with a lot of recommendations on things to do, home baked goods, fresh lettuce from the garden and local salmon.  They were very responsive both before the stay and during our stay.  We truly appreciated their efforts to share their love of Haida Gwaii …looking for bears, bald eagle displays (swooping right in front of us for the salmon heads and tails), and hiking recommendations.  We loved the fresh baked sourdough bread and chocolate chip cookies, and the salmon Tom caught was a lovely treat.  Their flexibility allowing for early check-in was an extra bonus.  The place is so well equipped for eating in and the deck at the water’s edge is lovely for enjoying a glass of wine after a full day exploring and hiking.  The two ensuite bedrooms are large and comfy and are perfect for two couples.  Thank you, Janine and Tom for everything and for making us so welcome in your lovely home!

Royce Chwin, June 2024, 5 star review.  Tom and Janine’s place is exactly as advertised and, better, we’ll measure other places we visit against Skyfall Cottage in the future.  It could not have been easier from booking to check-in to departure.  And the treats were a real surprise and delight.  Location excellent.  Thank you, Janine and Tom, for your hospitality and being fantastic hosts welcoming us to Haida Gwaii!  We are already planning on returning and we’d easily pick Skyfall Cottage again.  Haw’aa

Spenser & Kayla Heard, May 2024, 5 star review. My wife and 2 sons (aged 6 and 3) had an incredible time at Janine &Tom’s place. There are 2 good sized bedrooms each with its own ensuite, which was a real treat. Upon arrival we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, fresh-baked sourdough bread and a frozen filet of local salmon - such an introduction! The views of the ocean are unbeatable and there are comfy patio furniture and blankets to sit outside and enjoy the view. The unit is a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk from the incredible Blacktail restaurant which we ate at twice considering how gourmet it is for such a reasonable price. The North Shore is a 1 hour drive but is extremely enjoyable and makes for a great day trip. We would highly recommend Janine and Tom’s place if you’re considering a trip to Haida Gwaii.
